Igor Devetak was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia in 1975 and educated at Cambridge and Cornell in mathematics, physics and information theory. He was Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California, and made important contributions to the field of quantum information theory (notably the proof of the quantum channel capacity theorem). In 2008 he left academia to work in the finance industry in Switzerland.

A practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism since the late 90s, in recent years he has become fascinated with the work of Carl Jung. His work on psychocosmology draws on his interest in physics, religion and psychology, and the unusual connection between Jung's theory of psychological types and quantum teleportation.
